The Very Reverend Walton Jones grew up in Grenada, MS, and was baptized at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. While completing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Mississippi State University, he was active in a local parish and served various diocesan youth ministries—two experiences which revealed to him God’s call to vocational ministry. This sense of call led him to take a position as a youth minister and enter discernment to the priesthood. He received a Master of Divinity from the University of the South in 2007. Walton served St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Meridian, MS from 2007-2010; Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez, MS from 2011-2016; and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS from 2016 to the present. He has remained active in diocesan work and served as a General Convention deputy, Standing Committee member, Executive Committee member, session director at Camp Bratton Green (17 years), and currently serves as the Dean of the Tombigbee Convocation. Throughout his life, Walton has been a dedicated musician, playing piano, organ, guitar, and bass in settings religious and secular. He enjoys audio and video production, photography, travel, board games, and working on his old Jeep. He is happily married and has two wonderful daughters.
